Viral Warts? Effective Podiatric Help from the First Visit

Viral warts are a common problem, but thanks to modern methods at our Warsaw center, you can remove them quickly and safely

What are viral warts?

Viral warts are skin lesions caused by HPV (human papillomavirus). They most commonly appear on the hands and feet, but can also occur elsewhere.

On the feet:
A hard, rough lesion with callused skin, often embedded in the skin and painful when pressed. Often resembles a callus, may have black dots inside (clotted blood vessels).

On the hands:
A raised, bumpy lesion with an uneven surface, sometimes with black dots (clotted blood vessels).

What causes viral warts?

Infection usually occurs through contact with surfaces contaminated with the virus, such as in swimming pools, gyms, locker rooms, or by wearing someone else’s shoes. The risk increases when:

– The skin is damaged (abrasions, cuts)
– Feet or hands are often wet (e.g., excessive sweating)
– The immune system is weakened (due to stress, illness, antibiotics)
– You walk barefoot in public places: pools, showers, gyms, saunas
– You wear tight or non-breathable shoes, promoting viral growth
– Children and teenagers are more susceptible due to softer skin and weaker immunity

How is viral wart therapy conducted?

At PodoX Podologia, we offer individually tailored therapy methods depending on the type, location, and severity of the wart.

  1. Lesion cleaning: gentle removal of callused skin under sterile conditions
  2. Topical treatment: application of antiviral preparations
  3. Physical therapy, e.g., electrocoagulation, cryotherapy
  4. Care recommendations: how to take care of the skin to prevent recurrence and infection

Wart therapy requires patience, but early intervention significantly shortens the duration of treatment and reduces the risk of spreading.

Why act quickly?

Viral warts on the feet are not only painful but highly contagious. If left untreated, they can spread and infect others. The sooner you start
